Early, while the district is still empty, zazen can be arranged in the main hall of Kōun-ji, led by a priest. Forty minutes to an hour. No experience needed.
It is not a staged event. It is the morning this temple keeps in any case, and you are welcome to join it. A stay with no sitting at all is just as welcome.
Japanese breakfast and kaiseki can be arranged in advance, and shōjin (temple) cuisine on request.
Where the season allows, we cook with vegetables grown here at Kōun-ji, raised without pesticides through the growing period. Less interested in laying out a banquet than in food that tastes of itself.

In Zen, practice is not only what happens in the hall; daily life is the practice. What follows is not a schedule. It is simply what the hours hold.
